This week the children learned about ‘contractions’. It takes less time, and uses less energy, to put two words together to make one word; a bit like a shortcut. Remember that we must use an apostrophe to show the missing letters other wise ‘he’ll’ will read as ‘hell’.
The English language has well over 100 contractions that are used when we write and speak. Many of us use them without realising it but when we come to spelling it we have to think twice.
