P5 looked at 20th Century Dutch artist Piet Mondrian who is probably most famous for his work ‘Composition in Red, Blue and Yellow’ (1937 – 1942). He believed that art should be brought back to the basics and represented for what it truly was; line, colour and shape.
We investigated the life and works of Mondrian before creating our own inspired pieces using only the primary colours and strips of black card on top of white card.
They look great! I’m always trying to tell people who come to my Studio that you don’t need to be able to paint an amazing landscape or a perfect portrait to be “arty” – and this is a great example!

Thanks for the feedback! I didn’t know you had a studio – we’ll need to get you in to do an art lesson with us!

A ceramic painting studio rather than “serious” art!! And it would definitely be basic as I’m certainly no artist myself!
