Today P5 learned about ‘note taking’.
Children watched a very informative video about the Czech Republic that lasted about fifteen minutes. They were told to find a place in the classroom where they could take ‘notes.’ This helped children to practise working under pressure and multitask.
During the video, and after, we discussed key features of note taking and came up with some important points –
- Taking notes means jotting down short phrases and words NOT long sentences.
- You don’t need to write EVERYTHING down – just the main points.
- You can shorten words and use acronyms to make writing quicker.
- You can put things into your own words (this will also help understanding later).
Ask your child if they can recall some interesting facts about the Czech Republic – see what they remember! Did they remember more because they wrote it down?
